Walking by the Spirit: A Deeper Understanding of Galatians 5:16-18

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.   In his letter to the Galatians, the Apostle Paul addresses a critical issue facing the early church: the false teaching that adherence to the Laws of Moses is necessary for salvation. This legalistic approach, propagated by certain Jewish teachers, threatened to undermine the gospel of grace that Paul had preached to the Galatians. In response, Paul emphasizes the freedom that believers have in Christ, a freedom secured through His sacrificial death on the cross.
